Hello and welcome to my blog reflection!
This half of the semester I was able to record a free conversation to increase my fluency. I also recorded a shadowing exercise to increase my speed.
Though I still struggle with speed, I think continuing to listen to Japanese and practice will help this aspect of my learning.
This half of the semester I was advised to work on my double consonants and flat pitches. I kept those in mind in my subsequent PE and was able to improve a bit. I think, if I remember to work on these things, they will continue to improve.
I will also work to include emotion in my voice when speaking. That I can practice in speak setting through Japanese class.
I think I made great progress but there is still so much to go!
Thank you for reading,
Alina

Hello!
It is once again time to do my blog reflection.
For my pronunciation I will work to understand the intonation of the prosody exercise. For this, I will go to office hours twice this semester.
I also found that my problems were not the double consonant but getting each syllable right. Therefore, I will practice saying everything correctly slowly.
I find that in pronunciation, it is difficult to talk at a fast speed, getting every syllable right and saying what is needed to be said. I think this is a matter of practice and so I will practice having more conversations in Japanese to increase my fluency. I can do part of this through the Speak Everywhere exercise.
I will work to increase my intonation during speaking and emotion in my voice.
Hopefully, I will improve during this half of the semester in my speaking.
Best,
Alina

Pronunciation Exercise Goals
My
long term goal throughout my four years at Princeton is to become proficient in
Japanese. Therefore, I have a few goals smaller goals to work up to this:
Pronunciation:
Long term, I would like to achieve fluency indistinguishable from native
Japanese speakers.
Speed
– I would like to be to speak at the speed of native speakers.
Mimic
– I would like to hear a short phrase from a Japanese speaker and be able to
repeat it.
To
achieve this I will:
Watch
anime and Japanese drama once a month
Do
shadowing exercises once every two weeks
Listen
to Japanese music twice a week
Attend
the Japanese Language Tables once a month
